Lise B Moorcroft – The Art of Moorcroft Tubelining Masterclass

Lise B Moorcroft – The Art of Moorcroft Tubelining Masterclass
Experience one of Britain’s most iconic ceramic decorating techniques with Lise B Moorcroft, an acclaimed ceramic artist and fourth-generation member of the legendary Moorcroft pottery family.
Steeped in over a century of ceramic heritage, Lise studied Ceramics at London’s Central School of Art & Design before establishing her own Staffordshire studio in 1987. For almost four decades she has continued the renowned Moorcroft tradition of designing, making and decorating her own work by hand, combining time-honoured techniques with her own distinctive artistic style. Her work has been exhibited throughout the UK and is held in collections around the world.
During this fascinating one-day masterclass, Lise will introduce you to the beautiful and instantly recognisable techniques that have made Moorcroft ceramics famous. You’ll learn how to create the characteristic raised tubelined outlines before adding rich, flowing underglaze colour using the delicate watercolour-style decorating methods that give Moorcroft pottery its remarkable depth and vibrancy.
Working on a selection of ceramic tiles, you’ll have the opportunity to practise these traditional skills while receiving plenty of individual guidance from Lise throughout the day. Whether you’re new to ceramic decoration or looking to broaden your skills, this workshop offers a rare opportunity to learn directly from one of the finest exponents of this celebrated British craft.
Bisque firing of your decorated tiles is included in the workshop price. If you would like your work finished with a transparent glaze, this can be arranged after the workshop for an additional £15 per tile.
Lunch, tea, coffee and refreshments are included, allowing you to relax and enjoy a thoroughly inspiring day immersed in one of Britain’s most treasured ceramic traditions.
