DESCRIPTION:Goosfest Arts & Crafts Weekend\n\n\n\nThe reputation and interest in Goosfest’s Annual Art Exhibition of NW Artists has continued to grow since it started 4 years ago. The number of people visiting our exhibition has increased year on year and almost 1000 people visited over the 3 days the art was displayed last year. The majority of the art is from NW based artists and also for sale. This is a chance to buy an original work of art\, we also have our Goosfest Art shop based there where you can purchase much of the art on display as well as other merchandise. \nThe setting of The Orchards Farm Barn is a wonderful and highly atmospheric environment for displaying art and we are sure you will enjoy the experience. Credit and debit cards are taken. \nWe have also increased our ever popular ‘workshops’ and this year we are offering the majority of these at Lowes Farm in collaboration with the Cheshire Clay Studios. This provides a perfect venue for workshops and there is ample parking and an onsite café. These workshops are really excellent value and are subsidised and designed to provide an ‘experience-taster’ for those who have always wanted to try but have always put it off! SUMMARY:Ceramic Screw Tops - elevate your pot design with Joe Small
DESCRIPTION:Joe Small\n\nJoe Small produces high-fired stoneware and porcelain\, inspired by ancient and contemporary East Asian ceramics. Building on his practical skills and previous geochemical research career\, Joe adopts a holistic approach to ceramics\, utilising locally sourced clays\, rocks and wood ashes in his glazes. His kilns and other equipment are self-built and include novel tools to form ceramic screw threads. The form of his pieces and use of clay slips and textured decoration are created to accentuate his specialist flame reduction glazes and their molten reactions and nucleation on clay surfaces. \nIn this informal two hour workshop\, Joe will explain how to make ceramic screwtops for vessels and participants will have the chance to try it out for themselves.  Anyone who is interested in new and innovative techniques in clay will love this event! \n£15 per person all materials included.

DESCRIPTION:Simon Shaw was a production potter until choosing to be a full time\, self employed ceramicist in 1988. Since that time he has exhibited widely over the UK and also worked/exhibited in Greece\, Bermuda\, Bequia and Norway.\nMost of his work is thrown but more recently he has been incorporating handbuilt and extruded elements.\nSimon has a workshop in the thriving\, creative Baltic Triangle area of Liverpool and teaches a throwing module at Wrexham University.\nSimon is the ‘hands’ that produced the thrown images/ finished pieces for all the throwing projects for the book to accompany the tv series ‘The Great Pottery Throwdown’. \nThis intensive day workshop is suitable for those who already enjoy throwing and wish to expand their skill in throwing bigger pieces. \n£150.00 per person.

DESCRIPTION:We are delighted that Julia Elliot (Agama Creative) will be delivering a one day Raku workshop with us on Sunday 8th June 2025. \n \nJulia is famous for her amazing animal sculptures https://agamacreative.co.uk/ to see examples of her work.   She specialises in Copper Fuming – a very special form of Raku which gives remarkable coloured matte results. \nThe day will include several firings of pots and we may also be able to do some horsehair firing on the day in addition to the raku firings. \nThe workshop is limited to 12 participants and as we expect demand to be high\, early booking is recommended. \n£90 per person.  Refreshments are provided. DESCRIPTION:✨ Discover the Art of Kintsugi—Where Broken Becomes Beautiful \nNot everything broken is lost—sometimes\, it becomes even more beautiful. ✨ \nFriday 6th June 2025 \nJoin us for a one-of-a-kind workshop that celebrates the ancient Japanese art of Kintsugi\, where cracks are filled with gold\, turning once-broken ceramics into stunning masterpieces. \nLed by Amelia Bedson\, a skilled restorer with experience in cultural heritage conservation\, this morning workshop will take you on a journey through history\, craftsmanship\, and the philosophy of wabi-sabi—embracing imperfections as part of an object’s unique story. \nThe workshop: \nAmelia will supply you with a bowl that she will show you how to break (or you can bring along a piece of your own).  Then she will teach you\, step by step\, how to repair the broken pieces to create a wonderful new masterpiece\, using 24 carat gold leaf to gild the repair. \nYou will leave the workshop with the confidence to repair other pieces of broken ceramics to make them even more beautiful. \nThe workshop is from 10.00am to 1.00pm \nPlaces are limited so early booking is recommended. \n£65.00 per person.
