DESCRIPTION:An unforgettable\, fiery adventure in ceramics \nGet ready for two hours of drama\, colour\, fire and fun with our brand-new Raku Experience — a hands-on pottery session that puts you right at the heart of this thrilling and unpredictable firing technique. \nWhat’s Involved? \nYou’ll begin by selecting a beautiful\, premade pot created by one of our skilled potters. Then it’s over to you to decorate it using special Raku glazes — metallic\, crackled\, and unpredictable in all the best ways. \nOnce your piece is ready\, the real magic begins. You’ll help load the raku kiln and feel the roar of the flames as your pot is heated to over 1000°C in just 35 minutes. While the heat works its alchemy\, grab a coffee from our on-site café or chat with our friendly Raku expert\, who’ll explain the secrets behind the process. \nFire\, Smoke and Steam \nWith the kiln blazing hot\, the pots are carefully lifted out — red-hot and glowing — and placed into small bins. Here’s where you take centre stage again: add newspaper and watch your pot erupt into flames. DESCRIPTION:Workshop: Create your own Affirmation cards mini artworks \nJoin me for a delightful\, hands-on art workshop where you’ll dip into the world of mixed media and mindfulness.\nLet me guide you through working with some fabulous mixed media techniques on paper that will emerge into stunning mini artworks that can be used to create your own set of beautiful AFFIRMATION CARDS.\nThese mini artworks really pack a punch on so many levels. Not only are they a way to explore a huge variety of art techniques\, experiment with lots of different materials and really develop your own unique colour themes but they make really thoughtful gifts\, can be turned into greetings cards\, framed to display on a shelf or mantle\, become bookmarks or whatever you can imagine. But I’m sure you’ll want to keep them as a card set and will enjoy using them to bring a bit of positive mindfulness into your life.\nIf you’re not familiar with Affirmation cards they are usually found in sets like a pack of playing cards or tarot and each one has a small message to inspire you.\nI have a couple of sets and really enjoy using them. Simply selecting a card at random and being inspired by the words or asking a question and pulling a card for an answer. Either way they are a lovely uplifting tool.\nThe extra beauty about making your own is that you can be as personal and intentional as you choose. You can use your favourite colours\, your most invigorating or most calming style and something made by your own hands will always have a much deeper meaning and connection. \nWhether you’re a beginner or looking to refine your skills\, this workshop is designed to help you build confidence\, develop new techniques\, and explore the joyful process of creating unique\, playful artworks. You’ll learn to layer colours\, add texture\, and play with different mediums to create the charming cards \nBy the end of the workshop\, you’ll leave with a collection of mini artworks that unify together as a set of affirmation cards. You will learn how to draw decorative illustrations and flourishes to complement your calligraphy lettering on stationery pieces. DESCRIPTION:5 Week Pottery Throwing Class at Cheshire Clay Studios.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFive week throwing classes on  Friday mornings\n23rd January – 20th February  6.30pm – 8.30pm\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSessions are two hours duration and limited to eight people. \nThrowing classes are for beginners wanting to learn the basics of throwing a pot on the wheel\, and full tuition is provided by our expert class leaders. \nWe also have returners to the class who can practice their skills\, although supervised\, returners will largely throw independently in their sessions. \n£250.00  per person\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe beginner’s class includes all clay and full tuition over five weeks.  Any pots that attendees wish to keep will be subject to a £24 glaze and firing charge. \nReturners who are attending to practice their throwing may have up to five pots glazed and fired in their class fee. All clay is also included.

This inspiring session will dive into the techniques\, challenges\, and artistry behind one of pottery’s most complex forms:  making the perfect teapot. \n About Sharon Lea \nBorn in Britain and raised in the wild landscapes of New Zealand’s South Island\, Sharon Lea creates ceramics rooted in nature. Her early exposure to wind-shaped rock\, water-worn surfaces\, and a background in botany fostered a lasting fascination with organic forms. Today\, that connection continues to flow through her practice. \nSharon studied at Clay College in Stoke\, where she is now a tutor. Her work is known for its expressive throwing lines\, fluid shapes\, and thoughtful use of natural materials—many sourced from her family’s own farm. From hand-built vessels to delicately thrown porcelain\, her pieces explore the balance between spontaneity and control\, form and function. \nThrowing a Teapot: The Ultimate Challenge \nSaturday 25th October | 2–4pm | £20 per person \nThey say if you can throw a teapot\, you can throw anything.
