Sharon Lea: Live Lecture Demonstrations at Cheshire Clay Studios
We’re thrilled to welcome acclaimed potter Sharon Lea to Cheshire Clay Studios this autumn for exclusive live lecture demonstrations. These inspiring sessions will dive into the techniques, challenges, and artistry behind two of pottery’s most complex forms: throwing with porcelain and making the perfect teapot.
About Sharon Lea
Born in Britain and raised in the wild landscapes of New Zealand’s South Island, Sharon Lea creates ceramics rooted in nature. Her early exposure to wind-shaped rock, water-worn surfaces, and a background in botany fostered a lasting fascination with organic forms. Today, that connection continues to flow through her practice.
Sharon studied at Clay College in Stoke, where she is now a tutor. Her work is known for its expressive throwing lines, fluid shapes, and thoughtful use of natural materials—many sourced from her family’s own farm. From hand-built vessels to delicately thrown porcelain, her pieces explore the balance between spontaneity and control, form and function.
