We love all things Raku and alternative firing here at Cheshire Clay Studios and have a fantastic covered outdoor firing area with roaring raku kilns, fiery bins and steaming water.
Our 2 hour raku experiences are perfect for first timers, and our specialist workshops really get your hands dirty!

We went across to the incredible Jodrell Bank observatory just before Christmas to deliver a space themed bauble workshop to some of the team.
We are so lucky to have this UNESCO World Heritage site just 15 minutes away from our studios. If you have never visited - put it on you must do list for 2026!

After the bad weather last week we had a fabulous busy and creative Tuesday morning in studio 1. Such a lovely, warm and welcoming atmosphere made by our super members!

This was a lovely and unusual commission. Mum and

This was a lovely and unusual commission. Mum and daughter wanted a pair of mugs squeezed into the shape of their handprints. Daughter is moving the Norway and they wanted a sweet reminder of each other every time they drink their tea and coffee.
One of our lovely studio members, Sarah, agreed to take on the commission. The whole experience was fascinating for our clients, watching Sarah throwing their mugs on the wheel, preparing them for handling, and then getting them to gently squeeze the mugs into their cupped handprints.
We then dried, fired and glazed fired them ready for collection before daughter left for her new adventures in Norway.

We are now ready to have visitors to the studios who would like to see these exciting new glazes 'in action'. We're getting wonderful results from the Crystal ranges - uniquely, these crystal glazes can be fired in a normal stoneware firing, making crystalline glazing available to all potters without the requirement for specialist firing programmes.
